Visa and Mastercard reach a $30 billion settlement over credit card fees. The agreement resolves a long-running case brought by merchants who alleged that the credit card companies inflated the fees they charged for processing payments. Lawyers for the merchants called the settlement one of the largest ever for an antitrust class action, although the agreement does not require Visa and Mastercard to make any upfront payments.
