The Court of Appeal of Paris sentenced UBS to a penalty of 1. 8 billion euros in damages, for encouraging wealthy French clients to open accounts in Switzerland without the knowledge of the tax authorities between 2004 and 2012. A lower sentence than in the first instance, since it had been sentenced to a penalty of 4.5 billion euros in February 2019.
